This last week was crazy. Elder Moore and I worked to try and contact as many people as we could this past week since the holidays are finally over. We had a goal to contact at least seventeen names from our list and then to add more to it. We did both which was pretty exciting for us. There were some that we were not able to have a visit with this last week due to illnesses or busy schedules for the week, but a lot of them still are interested which makes things fun.
Some of the interesting moments this week came as Elder Moore and I were out trying to find less-active members. We went through the ward list and if it was a name neither of us recognized we went and tried them. Our efforts resulted in us contacting the high councilor for the ward and his wife along with the Young Women president. We felt a little awkward but it was good since we really do not have the opportunity to associate with them very often.
Warren came to church yesterday and his baptism is on Friday. He is really excited to get baptized and likes the church a lot. We are going to keep working with him because he turns twelve next month and can be ordained a deacon.
I had the opportunity this past week to work in the Hilltop and Alkali Creek wards on team-ups. It was lots of fun working with Elder Thomas and we were able to get a lot done. They have an investigator who started the stop-smoking program and as of last night has been three days without smoking. Considering how he has smoked for almost forty years, we are all pretty excited for him.
For 2010 our mission had the theme, "2010 let the miracle begin." and a goal of helping 1000 souls come back to Christ either through baptism or reactivations. A lot of us were questioning it because in 2009 we had a final total of 597 and by the end of Sept. we were only at 500. Well, the numbers came in and the final total....1006!!! It was truly a miracle indeed and the Lord's hand was in it the whole way.
The scripture for the week is Moroni 10:32. Elder Moore and I have been sharing that one quite a bit these past few days. I have always loved Moroni's invitation to partake of the blessings of the Atonement. For more on this scripture, check out my blog.
Hope everything is going well and you are enjoying life.
